Life on campus
Student Life
A community as much as a degree programme — clubs, hackathons, study groups, and the friendships that get built over five years of hard work.
Clubs & associations
Software Engineering Students' Association (SESA)
The official student body of the department, organising orientation, mentorship, and welfare initiatives.
OAU Coding Club
Weekly programming sessions, competitive-programming practice, and study groups across all year levels.
AI / Data Society
Reading group and hands-on projects in machine learning, NLP, and applied data science.
CyberSec Circle
CTF practice, red/blue team exercises, and weekly security paper discussions.
Coding competitions & hackathons
Department teams compete annually in the National Universities Software Competition, GitHub Field Day, and a rotating set of hackathons run by industry sponsors. Internal hackathons run twice a year — open to all years, with senior students supporting first-years.

Voices from the cohort
“The capstone project changed how I think about software. We shipped something real, and the lecturer pushed us to defend our decisions like grown-ups.”

“Joining the AI lab in my third year is the best decision I made. I co-authored a workshop paper and used it to apply for grad school.”
TomiwaClass of 2024
“The community matters as much as the curriculum. I still call my classmates when I'm debugging at work, three years later.”
